There is no longer 15 minutes tolerance for paying parking in
parking zones!
The parking patrol officers will be only too ready to fine you
as soon as you leave your car, if they happen to be around. Over the last
three months, when you sent an SMS message to pay for parking, you often
received an SMS beginning with “Zao nam je…” meaning that the system
failed to accept your payment (
example).
However, if you resent your SMS, you received an SMS confirming the
payment (“U BEOGRADU za vozilo…” -
example) giving the exact time when
your parking would expire (a detailed description of parking zones and
paying for parking in Belgrade is given in the guidebook). New parking
rates:
Red zone - 37,50 dinars; Yellow zone - 26,50 dinars; Green zone -
21,50 dinars.

Page 104

transport costs 69 dinars. Fine for stealing a ride or for not punching the
ticket is 1,700 dinars.

● We recommend Serbian specialties at "Suri" Restaurant. This is the most
expensive of all restaurants serving traditional Serbian dishes (price range
for main courses EUR 10-13). We suggest that you set aside at least two
hours for a visit to this restaurant and try "gibanica" with "kiselo mleko"
(thick natural yoghurt), "Momacki bokcaluk", "Suri ćevapčići" and (if you are
still hungry) "jagnjetina ispod sača" (lamb meat roasted under an iron bell
on coal and ashes). A glass of raspberry of blueberry juice is a must order.
It will cost you the price of a whiskey, but it will be about the best juice you
have ever had in you life. For a finale, if you are in a larger crowd, order
"Čudo Mida Klisurac" pancakes, but ask for one serving only! This dessert
costs like a main-course dish, but is large enough to indulge half a dozen
people.

Belgrade Zoo has a new arrival – a white buffalo
  – the only one in Europe. In Belgrade zoo you can
also see white lions and a white wallaby (a kind of
  kangaroo).

● Over the past year, the hit song in Belgrade
restaurants has been "Ko te ima taj te nema".

White Lion in Belgrade Zoo

You can hear it in "Manjež" /Manyezh/ restaurant Fridays to Tuesdays, after
8 pm. We suggest you try kolenica /pork hock/ and draught beer in
"Manjež". Svetozara Markovića 46 (F6 quadrant on our map of Belgrade);
Tel: 3621-111; Working hours: 9am - 12pm.

● Another “Adore” chocolaterie, apart from the one at “Milenium” shopping

Zmaj Jovina Street (D6 quadrant on our map of Belgrade).
www.cokolada.co.yu

● “Halo Plus” is a new prepaid scratch card that allows international calls
to be made from residential or public phones at lower rates. There are
three types of the card: for overseas calls, for calls to European countries,
and for calls to the countries of the former Yugoslavia (with exception of
Montenegro). On the back of the card you can find the  instructions for use
in English.
The card expires 60 days after first use. You can buy them at newsagents.
They cost 600 dinars and for that money you can talk for about 29 minutes
to overseas countries, 40 minutes to European countries, and 44 minutes
to the countries of the former Yugoslavia.

● The new code for national currency, Serbian dinar, is RSD (instead of CSD)
and its numeric code is 941.

1 EUR is currently worth around 82 dinars.
